Surah fil transliteration11/13/2022 ![]() Translations into other languages are necessarily the work of humans and so, according to Muslims, no longer possess the uniquely sacred character of the Arabic original. Furthermore, an Arabic word, like a Hebrew or Aramaic word, may have a range of meanings depending on the context – a feature present in all Semitic languages, when compared to English, Latin, and Romance languages – making an accurate translation even more difficultĪccording to Islamic theology, the Qurʻan is a revelation very specifically in Arabic, and so it should only be recited in Quranic Arabic. Because Muslims revere the Qurʻan as miraculous and inimitable (iʻjaz al-Qurʻan), they argue that the Qurʻanic text should not be isolated from its true form to another language or written form, at least not without keeping the Arabic text with it. The translation of the Qurʻan into modern languages has always been a difficult issue in Islamic theology. When Prophet Abraham (PBUH) completed the construction of the Ka’bah, he turned to Allah with the following prayer: Īnd remember Abraham said: “My Lord, make this a City of Peace, and feed its people with fruits.”Īnd Allah answered his prayer, and helped the people of Mecca prosper and live in safety.Surah Al Fil( سورة الفيل ) - Translation of Quran in English by English Transliteration ( Transliteration) Connecting this verse with the previous one, Allah says that they should worship Him Alone because He is the One Who guards them against hunger and keeps them safe from fear. Who has fed them against hunger and has made them safe from fear.Īgain, in this last verse of the Surah, Allah is reminding people of His Favours upon them. So let them worship the Lord of this House,Īfter describing His Favours in first two verses of the Surah, Allah directs the Quraysh to worship Him, as He is the “Lord of the House” - Ka’bah.Ĥ. Thus, in this verse, Allah is reassuring their security.ģ. They were thus exposed to the dangers of hunger and robbery on the way. Their protection during their trading caravans in the winter and the summerįor trade purposes, the Quraysh took caravans of merchandise to the warmer climate of Yemen in the winter and to the cooler climate of the Syrian summer, upon which the prosperity of Mecca depended. In this verse, Allah Himself is taking the responsibility for the protection of Quraysh.Īs in Surah al-Ankabut, regarding the safety of House of Allah, Allah says: ĭo they not then see that We have made a sanctuary secure, and that men are being snatched away from all around them?Ģ. TafsirĪs the custodians of the Ka’bah, the “protection of the Quraysh” is equivalent to the security of the Ka’bah, for the sake of which the army of Abrahah was destroyed.
